Lifestyle

When creating a Splicer, players may select from a list of Lifestyles which are intended to inspire character. Below is a list of each option and a brief description of how a character with these traits may see and interact with the world.

Exec

Climbing the corporate ladder is a bloodbath, sometimes literally. In your experience, the best way to get something done is usually to pay a shit ton of money, but at the end of the day the only one you can really trust is yourself. Being in the upper levels of a company has made you plenty of enemies, but you’ve got a few friendly contacts left in the corporate world.

Rat

On the streets, it’s kill or be killed. You know the lower levels like the back of your hand, know the hustles and pitfalls to avoid. Out of the lower levels, no-one’s likely to give you the time of day, but fuck 'em, you’ve formed strong bonds with your gang of survivors.

Socialite

Whether it be from your beautiful art or daddy’s money, everyone knows your name. Being a celebrity certainly has its perks, you hold sway over your demo, cutthroat fans may be willing to do anything for you. But not everyone is gonna kiss your ass and sometimes you draw a little too much attention to yourself.

Scientist

In the field, lab or office, you endeavor to unveil the mysteries of this world through careful experimentation and observation. Years of study make you an expert in a specialized field, though you likely have contacts across a range of disciplines.

Engineer

You work so closely with machines, people may think you’ve become one yourself. For you, every problem can be solved with logic and the right tool, and when the right tool doesn’t exist, you make it. You have a mind for mechanisms that often allows you to see the simplest solutions and intuit the outcome of moving parts.

Jockey

In a world run on computers, real power often lies in cyberspace. You’ve spent so much time staring at a screen, reading code is second nature to you, and you’d rather talk to an AI than a ‘real’ person. You can scan for info on terminals faster than anyone, you’ve even got a few subroutines up your sleeve to locate hidden files.

Wager

You work for a living. Day in, day out you’re grinding the hours away at a job that only keeps you around because they can pay you slightly less than it’d cost to power a robot. The upside of this is you have in-depth knowledge of the company you work for and you may know weaknesses or override codes to their products.

Fixer

Anything can be accomplished if you just get the right people in the same room. You have connects all across the world willing to rent their services out for the right price. You’re able to negotiate fair payment for work from just about anyone, however, sometimes when you need something done right, even you have to get your hands dirty.

Deadline

You end people, clean and simple. Whether it be by bullet or blade, your targets ain’t making it home for christmas. Your experience taking marks has honed your ability to track people, there’s always a clue somewhere, and you usually find it no matter how small. If not, sheer determination will put your prey squarely in your crosshairs.

Astro

In this day and age, the transportation industry is moving towards full automation, but there’s one thing computers can’t yet match: a pilot's instinct. Whether you’re behind the yoke of a fighter jet or space-shuttle, you can maneuver any vehicle expertly.

Muscle

Someone with your physical prowess makes an ideal candidate for body-guard work. From experience protecting people, you can easily assess a target and determine their threat level. When diffusing situations, when diplomacy fails, intimidation can go a long way.

Drifter

You’ve traveled from city to city in search of something. Maybe riches, maybe fame, maybe just a steady job. Your greatest ally is that when people look at you, they immediately misjudge you. They underestimate just how tough you need to be to survive in the wastelands, and you can leverage that to an easy advantage.
